Eisenlord/Murray Residence
Minnetonka, MN

Ike and Ann are friends with other clients for whom we designed a kitchen remodel several years ago (Woodbeck Residence). Ike's avocation is photography and Ann is a collector of period objects.

The house was constructed for a previous owner in 1985 on one acre site, half wooded and half wetland. Unforunately, the house was designed with some troublesome, quirky features not uncommon for that era: The master bath is open to the master bedroom, both of which are on a balcony and open to the living room (open flowing space is not always the right answer). Useful storage space is limited to the bedroom closets. The awkward floorplan makes the many rooms and large volume feel cramped. The dining room is small while the living room is large. There is not sufficient spaces for either Ike or Anne's avocation. Poor detailing on the screen porch and deck have caused wood rot.

Project Goal:
Transform the house to feel like a more tranquil and spacious environment. Increase the privacy and usefulness of the master suite, find or create additional storage, and reallocate and add square footage to better respond to Ike and Ann's lifestyle.

Project Status:
Currently in the Design Development Phase.
